1946 – Women of Farnhill and Kildwick
This month’s photograph is in our archive labelled as “End of war celebrations –
1946”. Certainly it was taken in the Farnhill Institute at around that time but we’re
not sure exactly what the occasion was. Was it, perhaps, one of the events
organised by the “Welcome Home Committee” whose activities we’ve written
about in one of our articles ?

About the “Group photographs project”
A number of group photographs have been contributed to our archive with very
little information attached to them. The aim of this project is to capture as much
detail as we can from those who might remember the events and people shown.
For this photograph, our team of “identifiers” included: Ruth Ward, Rosemary
Hargreaves, Robert Bracken, Dennis and Christine Laycock, Margaret Steptoe, Jill
Ideson, and Enga Brown.
